Así son las nuevas palas de Ale Galán, Marta Ortega y Álex Ruiz: las PRO-EDT Series

Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega, the new couple that threatens the number one’s

It’s not only by choice that new couples are born in padel. Sometimes they are formed by force, due to injuries, retirements or breaks in the career of one of the two partners. On this occasion, it was Alejandra Salazar’s withdrawal that led to the new pairing between Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega.

The World Padel Tour calendar is so intense that the lack of rest is taking its toll on the players. In this case, the affected player is a very important absence for the team as she is one of the four players in the battle for the top spot in the women’s ranking.

Ale Salazar leaves a notable gap in the circuit

That will have to wait. An elbow injury will keep Salazar away from the blue carpet for several tournaments, as she herself announced in a post on her social networks.

The number two pairing surprised the public, falling in the quarter-finals of the Cervezas Victoria Marbella Master to Virginia Riera and Tamara Icardo. What seemed like a big problem turned out to be the least of them. It wasn’t just a bad match, it was more than that.

For her part, the player from Madrid had been fighting against her body for several tournaments and this is what she told her followers: “I’ve been playing for many weeks suffering too much without performing or enjoying myself as much as I would like, dragging an injury in my elbow that has been getting worse this year with the overload and with hardly any rest with this calendar“.

After giving it a lot of thought and evaluating it with the whole team, we think it’s time to heal and rest a few weeks to come back stronger and be able to give the team my best version“, announced Salazar. In this way, she announced that we won’t see her competing for a while.

Gemma Triay chooses Marta Ortega

Time to find a new couple for Triay. There could be many candidates, although not all of them would be willing to abandon their projects with their current couples. One of them, in particular, was in the ideal situation to do so.

It wasn’t long ago that Martita had joined Sofía Araújo, after Bea González and Delfina Brea decided it was time to join their game. Two months have passed since then. They became champions at the Alicante Open 500 and have played four semi-finals.

Four was also the number of couples they were in the ranking, but when Gemma Triay calls you to bet on you, it’s not easy to say no. After the Portuguese announced their split, the public didn’t even need them to make the news official, something that finally happened on Monday night.

The padel will experience a completely new couple

Their careers have already led them to see each other’s faces on the 20 x 10 on numerous occasions. However, this time it will be different. Their coincidence on court will unite them on the same side. Now the net will not break them up. They will fight for the same goal.

Be it alongside Ari Sanchez, Marta Marrero or Bea Gonzalez. The last few seasons have left clashes to remember between Martita and Gemma. The latter rowed hand in hand with Lucia Sainz, before moving on to row with Ale.

The union between Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega, two of the most in-form players on tour, will be something completely new. Their great talent and unmeasured effort will undoubtedly leave us with images of absolute dedication and an exhibition, week after week, of the best level of padel.
