Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno win in Amsterdam and further fuel the fight for the number 1 spot

Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno have won the Amsterdam Padel Open after defeating Paquito Navarro and Fede Chingotto 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the final.

The final of the Amsterdam Padel Open pitted the couples ranked 3 and 4, Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno against Paquito Navarro and Fede Chingotto. Second final of the season in which these couples faced each other, being the previous one at the Human French Padel Open in which the Superpibes won.

Superpibes comeback with signature

The match started with Paquito Navarro on fire from the start, which wasn’t good news for the Superpibes. Accompanied by a very confident and accurate Chingotto in the early stages, he took the lead with the first break of the match at the start. With this advantage, they advanced in a set in which Martin and Franco didn’t feel comfortable. The Spaniard and the Argentinian were 5-3 and had the serve to close out the first set. Although they couldn’t do it then, they managed to do it later on the return, making it 6-4.

In the second set there was a break and a counter-break to start. However, this was not to be the tone of the match. Stupa and Di Nenno started to find solutions to the problems that Paquito and Chingotto had presented in the first set. They improved their level and with a 6-2 lead the Superpibes secured the second set, forcing a decisive third.

After both couples defended their serves in the first two games, Di Nenno and Stupa struck again to take the lead with the first break. And that break was a turning point in the match. The Argentine couple were more aggressive than ever and dominated the entire third set with skill and determination. With another 6-2, they confirmed the comeback and became the champions of the Amsterdam Padel Open 2023.

Stupa and Di Nenno move closer to Tapia and Coello

With the elimination of Tapia and Coello in the round of 32 and the victory of Stupa and Di Nenno in Amsterdam, the difference between the two couples drops by almost 1,000 points. This Monday, when the rankings are updated, the difference between the couples will be 1,695 points.

However, this weekend it was announced the cancellation of the Buenos Aires Padel Master, a tournament that was going to give the winners 2,000 points. Without this tournament, there are only 4 tournaments left to play in the rest of the season, or what is the same, there are still 4,500 points to be distributed.
