Bea Gonzalez y Delfi Brea heroically proclaimed winners of Madrid P1

The women’s final of the Madrid P1 was epic in every sense of the word. Two couples who gave their all on court and gave everything they had to win the tournament. Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria against Bea Gonzalez and Delfi Brea.

Whoever won, Premier Padel was going to release winners, after Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega, who won the Italy Major a week ago, were eliminated in the semifinals.

The number ones started the match better and after a very even start they managed to break Bea Gonzalez’s serve in the eleventh game. That break proved decisive as Ari and Paula consolidated the break on serve to take the first set 7-5.

Delfi and Bea didn’t start the second set with the best feelings, and Gilardoni’s players took advantage of that, opening up a gap in the scoreboard thanks to two breaks.

The turning point of the match came in the second set, with Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria 4-1 up in the scoreboard. The pairing from Reus and Cáceres seemed to be on course to close out the final in the blink of an eye. However, Bea Gonzalez and Delfi Brea opted not to give up and left every drop of sweat on the court.

The player from Malaga and the player from Buenos Aires took four consecutive games, a set that put them ahead 4-5. They didn’t break back, but when they reached the tiebreak they forced a third set in a totally new match.

The last chapter of the match would be very even, so much so that neither of the couples managed to break their opponents’ serve. It came back to the sudden death, being Ari and Paula who took the step to the front, placing 6-2 with 3 balls of tournament. What happened next will go down in Premier Padel history. A powerful Bea at the net and several mistakes from the number 1 seeds ended up giving an unexpected twist to the script of the match. With 6 consecutive points, including a close range shot from Paula that went to the glass, Bea Gonzalez and Delfi Brea ended up taking the tie-break and with it the Madrid P1 in front of a stunned audience.
