The last event of the World Padel Tour’s South American tour will have many absentees. After the confirmed absences of Fernando Belasteguín and Sanyo Gutiérrez, who didn’t play the Chile tournament, and Paquito Navarro and Juan Tello, new absentees have joined the Paraguay Open.
As the South American tour progressed, it was losing players, until the Paraguay event that starts today.
A total of 10 pairings that appeared in the final draw of the Paraguay Open will drop out, which has forced the World Padel Tour to restructure the pairings and invite 5 Lucky Losers.
The most notable absences will be Fernando Belasteguín and Sanyo Gutiérrez, number 3 pairing, and Paquito Navaro and Juan Tello, number 5 pairing. Both absences are due to personal reasons, as Bela and Paquito have communicated on their social networks.
Other pairings such as Pablo Lima and Coki Nieto, or Maxi Sanchez and Lucas Campagnolo won’t be at the event either. In the case of Lima, he had been suffering from knee discomfort, which has prevented him from playing the tournaments played in the last two weeks. In the case of the Maxi and Campa, the reason for his absence is unknown.
Ramiro Moyano and Xisco Gil have also been confirmed as absentees in the last few hours. The former said: “We won’t be at the tournament. We were really looking forward to playing there for the first time, but two weeks after getting sick with fever, I still have some problems. In Chile, I had a bad time playing without training and being far from 100%, and we have decided that the best thing for my health is to recover at home. From the bottom of our hearts, we are very sorry”.
Mario Del Castillo and Miguel Benítez as well as Javi Rico and Jorge Ruiz will continue to be out, after not having recovered from their injuries, which have deprived them of playing in the tournaments of the South American tour.
But that’s not all. Other pairings such as Pablo Cardona and Ivan Ramirez, who will separate and announce new projects in the coming days, Lucas Bergamini and Victor Ruiz or Jon Sanz and Javi Leal will also miss the Paraguayan event.
This flood of withdrawals has meant that the World Padel Tour has had to count on up to five Lucky Losers to complete the final draw. The lucky losers are as follows:
In the case of Leo Augsburger and Tino Libaak it will be their last tournament as a couple, as after Paraguay, Leo will play with Javi Rico and Tino with Miguel Lamperti.
All these withdrawals have meant that the World Padel Tour has had to re-draw the men’s final draw, which has been configured as follows:
