Fernando Belasteguin, out of options for the Master Final

Fernando Belasteguin didn’t play in Amsterdam, neither this week in Menorca and, according to what he said on Mundo Deportivo’s Twitch this Sunday afternoon, we won’t see him play any more this season on the World Padel Tour.

A few days ago we reported that Bela would miss, at least, the Menorca Open, as the player himself commented on his social networks.

The situation is not at all flattering for the legend from Pehuajó, since as he has said, he won’t play in Sweden or Mexico.

This would be the second time in his career that he won’t be at the World Padel Tour Final Master. In 2012, another elbow injury prevented him from attending the Masters Tournament.

Belasteguin won’t reappear until the Mexico Major

The player himself confirmed that he will miss the next two World Padel Tour events, the Malmö Padel Open which takes place from the 4th to the 12th of November, as well as the Mexico Open which will take place from the 20th to the 26th of November.

His reappearance will take place at the Mexico Major of Premier Padel which will be played just a week before the World Padel Tour tournaments, from the 27th of November to the 3rd of December. After this tournament he will play in Italy at the Premier Padel Milano P1, a tournament that will finish the season.

Why doesn’t he hurry his chances to fight for the Master Final?

Fernando Belasteguin occupied the sixteenth position in the Race 2023, a position he will lose this Monday, October 30, to Coki Nieto. The fact that the player from Pehuajó won’t play in Malmö will deprive him of scoring points, something that the player from Madrid will do.

Bela could take a risk and fight for a good result at the Mexico Open, but as his partner Mike Yanguas has said, he is almost guaranteed to play the Final Master, and he will focus on healing his elbow and enjoying his family to try to come back in the first week of December.

Even if he doesn’t qualify for the Master Final on points, Fernando Belasteguin could attend, if the circumstances are right, as a substitute player and, if he doesn’t qualify on points either, he will attend even if it’s as an amateur.

His last tournaments on the World Padel Tour will be in Germany

After confirming that he will be absent from the last four tournaments of the regular season, Fernando Belasteguin will say goodbye to the World Padel Tour at the Final Master, but he will most likely do it from the stands.

If so, Bela would have played his last tournament on the Damm Group circuit in Germany, at the last German Padel Open.

The only World Padel Tour season without winning a title

The story of Fernando Belasteguin and World Padel Tour ends prematurely, a couple of months before the circuit draws the curtain and gives all its prominence to Premier Padel.

The 44 year old Argentine will close for the first time a season without titles on the World Padel Tour, a curious and sad fact at the same time.

If you want to read the interview that Alberto Bote and Nacho García have done with Fernando Belasteguin, you can watch it here.
