Juan Lebron and Ale Galan won’t play next week’s Granada Open

Registration for the World Padel Tour’s Granada Open 2023, which will take place from the 8th to the 16th of April, closed on Tuesday. The tournament, which will serve to see some new couples for the first time, will not count with the presence of Juan Lebron and Ale Galan.

What’s new at the Granada Open

Juan Lebron and Ale Galan will be absent from the tournament

It seems that the player from Cadiz has not fully recovered from his elbow injury, which forced him to withdraw in the quarter finals of the Paraguay Open. Therefore, the number 1 will be absent in Granada.

This means that Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello will start as number 1 seeds and, more importantly, will have the opportunity to extend their lead over Juan Lebron and Ale Galan.

In the women’s category, Bárbara Las Heras has also been confirmed as missing after her injury at the Reus Open 500. Her partner, Vero Virseda, will play in the tournament with another player.

Other expected returns at the Granada Open

The closing of registrations has also announced the return of Fernando Belasteguín and Sanyo Gutiérrez, who missed the last two events of the South American tour for personal reasons and didn’t take part in the Reus Open 500 either. The Argentine couple haven’t competed since La Rioja, almost a month ago.

Coki Nieto and Pablo Lima will also be back at this tournament. The Brazilian player, who is playing his last season as a professional, has knee problems, which has led him to miss the last few tournaments.

The debut of the new couples

In addition to the return of several couples, the Granada Open will allow us to see several of the new couples in action, such as Paquito Navarro and Fede Chingotto that we announced yesterday, or Juan Tello and Alex Ruiz. Other pairings will also make their debut, such as Javi Garrido and Jon Sanz, or Leo Augsburger and Javi Rico.

In the women’s category, Vero Virseda is registered for the tournament along with Lucía Martínez, after her partner, Bárbara Las Heras has not recovered. We will also see the debut of Bea González and Delfi Brea, who will start as couple 3, and Marta Ortega and Sofía Araújo, couple 4 of the tournament. Other pairings such as Carla Mesa and Lara Arruabarena and Alix Collombon and Ale Alonso will also make their debuts.
