There’s no stopping them! Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia win their fourth World Padel Tour title in Paraguay.

What a great start to the season! Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia added another title to their trophy cabinet, their fourth on the World Padel Tour.

In the final of the Paraguay Open 2023 they gave no option to Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno, although the Superpibes have been the only ones to beat Coello and Tapia.

The start of the match was overwhelming. The players from Valladolid and Catamarca were 4-0 up after just a few minutes thanks to two breaks. Although Stupa and Di Nenno managed to open their account, the first set was already theirs. Coello and Tapia took it 6-2.

Not much would change in the second set, this time taking the set 4-1 with two more breaks. In fact, they extended their lead a little more with another break, which made it 6-1 in the second set.

At first glance, the slow court could have taken its toll on them, but Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia not only played a spectacular offensive game, but their defence was unbreakable. No matter the court they play on, with the ability to get to every ball it’s very difficult to get a point against them and the Superpibes have realised that.

Seba Nerone said it in a broadcast this weekend: “It takes 48 points, at least, to win a match”. Well, the Spaniard and the Argentinean needed just 50 to win theirs in the final, and in just 59 minutes of play.

Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia are the great dominators on the World Padel Tour, as they have managed to win each of the four tournaments played to date.

But it’s not going to stop there. Both Coello and Tapia are showing signs of their insatiability in a season that has only just begun. In fact, the player from Catamarca commented to the World Padel Tour cameras: “There are always things to improve, but what Arturo did today against a pairing like Martin and Franco is incredible. We’re very happy with this tour, we’ve been able to win on many types of surfaces, and I think that’s very positive”.

While the action continues this week with the Reus Open 500, the Spanish-Argentine couple will now take a few days off, as will many others in the top rankings, to recharge their batteries ahead of the Granada Open.
