Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría add a new title in Granada!

Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria have won their third title of the season after beating Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar 6-2 and 7-6 in the final of the Granada Open.

The two best couples on the women’s World Padel Tour circuit met again at the Granada Open. The match would serve to equalize the balance of titles for one or to distance themselves for the other.

Both couples were in very good shape for this tournament. Gemma Triay and Ale Salazar recently won a historic hat-trick on the South American tour, while Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaría were victorious in their last match against the number 1 pairing in Reus.

The match started off fairly evenly matched between the two pairings. However, Ari and Paula and Paola managed to level the match with a break. After consolidating their serve, they extended their lead to 6-2 in the first set.

The number 2’s continued with the good streak at the beginning of the second set, showing a very serious and effective game. The player from Reus and the player from Caceres took the advantage of two breaks, putting them 5-1 up, being only one game away from a new title. However, you can never give up on Gemma and Ale. In an exercise of resilience, they managed to even the score at 5-5, surviving a match point against and ended up taking the set to sudden death. Far from being discouraged, Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaría managed to close the set in the tiebreak, which made them the winners of the Granada Open.

The next event on the calendar will be in Brussels, a tournament to be held from April 22 to 30.
