Their start to the year was not as expected after having been the No. 1 for the previous three seasons. Injuries affected their performance on court and, in the case of Lebron, he had to leave the competition for a few weeks due to elbow problems. However, today Ale Galan and Juan Lebron can be considered the most in-form couple.
The Spanish couple has won three of the last five tournaments on the World Padel Tour, playing toe to toe with other couples that have dominated the season, such as Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello at the beginning of the year or Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno.
After winning his last title in Menorca, Ale Galan was interviewed by the media Veinte Diez and analyzed how was his start of the season, the great moment they are living in this stretch of the year and the rumors of split in 2024 that have been circulating for weeks on the Internet.
Some of the phrases that Ale Galán left in the interview
On the irruption of Tapia and Coello, the player from Madrid commented that they didn’t expect to have to defend the number 1 so soon this season: “we haven’t had the option of disputing the number one, and we never thought that in May we would have to defend the number one so soon”.
What there is no doubt is that, after overcoming their respective injuries, the Spanish couple has been improving until reaching a similar version to what we were used to: “when we were both able to think more about playing and not about physical problems, we started to play at our best level”.
Outside the fight for the number 1 men’s ranking on the World Padel Tour, the Adidas player’s objective is to fight to finish the year as the number 1 couple in Premier Padel, which they’ve practically achieved. After the cancellation of this year’s Mexico Major, the Spanish couple has 24,400 points, while Tapia and Coello have 22,640 with only one tournament left to play, the Milano P1. This is what he said: “We knew that this year Premier Padel was the one to beat because it’s the one that’s going to be around for the next few years”.
And of course, Galan had to answer about the rumours of a split with Lebron, something that has been circulating around the networks for a long time this year due to the loss of the number 1 spot on the World Padel Tour. “Every year the rumour has been there. We are trying to finish in Premier and the year in the best way, and I think we deserve after so many complicated months to finish with good feelings. It has always been our approach. When the year is over, we’ll look back, see how it went, and we’ll think about everything”.
