Big day in the capital of Castilla y León, big day in the city of Pisuerga, finals day of Valladolid P2. This is what the final stage of the tournament has given us.

And again Claudia Fernández

In the final of the Valladolid P2, the two best couples of the circuit faced each other in a great duel: the number 1 pairing, Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, against the number 2 pairing, Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez. Undoubtedly the best match that women’s padel has to offer at the moment.

Gaby Reca’s girls started with a 4-0 lead, showing an unstoppable level of play. Ari and Paula tried to react, getting close until almost reaching 4-4 on their serve, but Gemma and Claudia broke again to close out the first set 6-3 in their favour.

The second set followed the same script: another 4-0 lead for Triay and Fernandez, who maintained total control of the match. This time, the No.1 seeds failed to break serve and the match ended 6-2 to the second seeds. Paula Josemaría suffered especially with Claudia Fernández‘s precise lobs from the cross-court, pinning her down throughout the match. Claudia’s performance was outstanding, and it is not unreasonable to think that today she could be considered the best player in the world.

Third time’s the charm: Arturo finally wins on home soil

Another classic in the Valladolid P2 final, but this time it was much different than on previous occasions. A lot of respect between the four players, none of them standing out in particular. Of course, the same level to which we are accustomed, with Galán recovering his best level.

A single break decided the first two sets, one for each side of the court. Surprisingly, it was the only match in which we went to the third set, where a single break was again the key. 6-4/4/4-6/6/6-3 for Tapia and Coello, who have now won four consecutive titles and continue to make up ground in the fight for the number 1 spot.
