A big day, a day for great players, a day for the two greatest. Yet another Superclásico, once again Galán and Chingotto versus Tapia and Coello. The same old story, with even more clay in the mix. There’s no need for much analysis: they remain unbeaten at Roland Garros. That’s how the men’s final of this Paris Major went.

Fourth in a row in Paris

The men’s final kicked off at 4.30 pm, with the Philippe-Chatrier court packed to the rafters – even more so than on Saturday – a truly extraordinary sight, to say the least. Bordering on a full house and with an aura that only this tournament can provide: the atmosphere you feel when the legends meet, once again, on the court where history repeats itself. Because this story has already been told six times: never before had six consecutive Majors ended in a ‘Superclásico’ final, and today marked the seventh.

As is usually the case, Coello and Tapia started the match a little more cautiously, whilst Galán came out firing on all cylinders. Early on, they had three break points but failed to capitalise on any of them, and that can only lead to one outcome against the number ones: 6–3 in their favour.

As the second set got underway, Chingotto emerged as the undisputed MVP. It was incredible what he was producing at every turn with that sort of flat, snaking shot that carries immense power in absolutely every direction, and with a finesse at the net that is unique to him. Galán simply kept pace with him, and they levelled the final at 6-4, breaking the number ones’ serve for the first time in a Paris final – something they hadn’t managed in either 2024 or 2025.

The third and decisive set began in the same vein, with the same run of form for Jorge Martínez’s side – the coach who announced last week that this would be his final season on the circuit and who today was able to dream, even if only for a moment, of bidding farewell with a Major title under his belt. 3–0 to start, with Fede on fire. They reached 5-3, serving to close out the final: that’s exactly when Chingotto ran out of steam. They felt the nerves, they felt the pressure, and the world’s best couple smelled blood. They levelled the match, went to a tie-break and Tapia won it practically single-handedly, putting on a masterclass: 6-3, 4-6 and 7-6 was the final score.

The statistics that cause a stir

Four consecutive Paris Majors. No one had ever done it before at Roland Garros. They have just achieved it for the fourth time in a row, further extending a run that is verging on the unbelievable: Agustín Tapia remains unbeaten on this court, not a single match lost in four years of Parisian dominance. It is their sixth consecutive victory over Galán and Chingotto, the twenty-seventh in a head-to-head series that now spans forty encounters, and the ninth title of the year for a couple who seem unwilling to make way for anyone else in the history of the sport.

Chingotto, meanwhile, remains the only player to have reached every final of this tournament since 2022 without ever having lifted the trophy. A particular and painful curse that had its moment of glory today—that second set, that 5–3 lead in his favour with the serve in his favour—before vanishing once again at the worst possible moment. That is the price of going head-to-head, match after match, against the two best players this sport has ever produced. They have their lapses, yes. But they are so good, and so superior, that they know exactly when to get back on track. And when they do, as they did today, they leave no title for anyone else.
