The Reserve Cup Marbella 2026 kicked off with its first matches and a special guest in the stands, Carlos Alcaraz

The Reserve Cup Marbella 2026 got underway with a thrilling day one at the Puente Romano Beach Resort. The tournament began amid huge anticipation and an atmosphere befitting the major events on the international padel circuit. The presence of Carlos Alcaraz, who was spotted amongst the crowd, added a special touch to a day on which other sporting figures were also keen not to miss the spectacle.

These were the results from the day one of the Reserve Cup Marbella 2026

The day began with this year’s major new feature: the debut of women’s padel at the Reserve Cup Marbella. Sofía Araújo and Lara Arruabarrena, from Team Sierra Blanca Estates, defeated Nuria Rodríguez and Alejandra Salazar, from Team Reserve, 6-4, 6-2. It was a resounding debut that secured the first point for Arturo Coello’s team.

The second match of the day saw Ale Galán and Mike Yanguas take on Arturo Coello and Javi Leal. The match was closely contested in the first set, which Team Reserve eventually took in a tie-break. In the second set, Galán and Yanguas showed greater composure to close out the match 7-6, 6-3, levelling the day’s score following the women’s team’s opening victory.

The day drew to a close with a truly thrilling match decided in a super tie-break. Leo Augsburger and Javi Barahona, from Team Reserve, defeated Coki Nieto and Fran Guerrero, from Team Sierra Blanca Estates, after each pair had won a set.

After the first three matches, Team Reserve ends the day with a one-point lead over Team Sierra Blanca Estates, ahead of a decisive second day in which every match will count double.

Thrilling matches, a fantastic atmosphere and stars in the stands

Beyond the sporting aspect, the first day once again demonstrated the Reserve Cup’s ability to create a unique experience centred around padel. The big surprise was the appearance of Carlos Alcaraz, who enjoyed the spectacle from the stands. Other notable figures in attendance included Patrick Rafter, Serhiy Rebrov, Frank de Boer and basketball player Alberto Díaz, further enhancing the event’s appeal as a top-tier social and sporting occasion.

The atmosphere at Puente Romano was electric from the very first point to the very last, with an enthusiastic crowd and a level of competition that exceeded expectations for an exhibition tournament.

Schedule for the second day of competition

The competition will continue this Friday 19 June, with a new session in which coaches Juan Martín Díaz and Seba Nerone will need to fine-tune their pairings as much as possible, as they cannot reuse any previously fielded pairs. The day will begin at 18:00 with the women’s match, and no earlier than 20:00, the first men’s match will take place; once that has finished, the second men’s match will follow.
