The Pro Padel League (PPL) arrives in Mexico for the first time to compete in the PPL Guadalajara 2025, which will be held from 14 to 17 August at the Domo del CODE Alcalde. This third event of the season marks a key moment in the calendar, as it will determine the eight teams that will qualify for the grand final of the season, The City’s Cup, scheduled to take place in New York from 16 to 19 October.
Competition format
The Mexican debut of the PPL will bring together ten top-level teams in an intense group stage to be played between Thursday and Saturday. Each day will feature two matches per team: one men’s and one women’s, both best of three sets.
This year, the circuit has decided to eliminate mixed matches, a notable change in format, seeking more gender-defined duels with extra intensity. In addition, golden point will be applied and, if the third set is reached, it will be decided with a super tiebreak.
On Sunday, the centre court will host the decisive matches: the two best-ranked players will face each other for the tournament title, while third and fourth place will be decided in a consolation match.
Which players will participate in the PPL Guadalajara 2025?
Among the participating franchises, names that mark the elite of today’s padel stand out.
The San Diego Stingrays will feature Maxi Sánchez, Lucas Bergamini, Jairo Bautista, Álex Chozas, Lucía Sainz, Vero Virseda, Claudia Jensen and Brittany Dubins. The Miami Padel Club brings together Agustín Tapia, Fede Chingotto, Edu Alonso, Rama Valenzuela, Virginia Riera, Marta Talaván and Jessica Castelló.
Also in contention will be the Toronto Polar Bears, led by Victoria Iglesias and Marina Guinart; the New York Atlantics, with figures such as Ari Sánchez and Javi Garrido; and the Cancun Waves, featuring Álex Ruiz, Franco Dal Bianco and Agustín Torre.
The list is completed by Arkansas Matrix, Flowrida Goats, Los Angeles Beat, Las Vegas Smash and Houston Volts, all with insoles full of proven players and promising young talents who will be looking to leave their mark on Mexican soil.
Beyond the sporting aspect, the PPL Guadalajara represents a firm step in the internationalisation of the league, which in previous editions had concentrated its activity in Miami (United States) and Spain. The choice of Guadalajara responds to the unstoppable growth of padel in Latin America and the interest in bringing a spectacle that combines professional sport and entertainment to new audiences.
