The first tournament of the Pro Padel League 2025 kicked off early this morning. Transfers, star signings and notable departures mark the start of a new season
From 19 to 22 June, Miami is hosting the first day of the North American competition, which this year features important changes to its franchises. Ten teams will once again compete for the title in a season marked by intense activity in the offices: unprecedented exchanges, luxury signings and unexpected farewells have completely changed the face of the tournament.
The first results came early this morning
The tournament kicked off last night at the Wayfair Arena in Miami, with the first two matches of the group stage being played.
The local franchise players, Agustín Tapia and Edu Alonso, defeated Mario Huete and Pincho Fernández, players from the Toronto Polar Bears, with a double 6-2.

Meanwhile, Marta Ortega and Alejandra Alonso, players for Las Vegas Smash, defeated Marina Lobo and Sofia Saiz of Cancún Weaves 6-2, 6-4.
Here’s how the franchises have been moving in the transfer market
Ari Sánchez for Chingotto: an unprecedented exchange
The most striking move was made by Miami Padel Club and New York Atlantics, who staged a direct exchange of stars: Ari Sánchez (currently number 1 in the FIP rankings) and Jon Sanz were transferred to the Atlantics, while Federico Chingotto, number 3 in the world, arrives in Miami. An unusual swap that sets the bar high from day one.
High-profile signings and departures
In addition to the big swap, there have also been some one-way moves. Delfi Brea will play for Flowrida Goats, Alex Ruiz will play for Cancun Waves, and Claudia Jensen will reinforce San Diego Stingrays.
The championship also welcomes big names such as Tamara Icardo, Javi Garrido, Beatriz Caldera, Juan Tello, Marina Lobo, Leo Augsburger, and the duo from A1 Padel, Maxi Arce and Franco Dal Bianco.
On the other side, Cata Tenorio, Miguel Lamperti, Carolina Navarro, Pablo Cardona and Coki Nieto are temporarily leaving the league.
