The line-ups for the 2026 Marbella Reserve Cup have been finalised, with Galán and Coello at the helm

This week sees no official Premier Padel competition, but the action continues. The Reserve Cup takes place from 18 to 20 June at the Puente Romano Tennis Club, where some of the world’s best players will face off in an exhibition format that is gaining in prestige year on year. Following several days of on-court action and announcements, the two squads have now been finalised, and the captains could be none other than the top two players in the FIP rankings: Alejandro Galán and Arturo Coello.

The teams: Galán leads Team Reserve and Coello heads Team Sierra Blanca Estates

Team Reserve, led by Alejandro Galán, boasts a blend of power, experience and consistency. The Madrid native will be joined by Lucas Bergamini, Leo Augsburger, Mike Yanguas, Gonza Alfonso and Javi Barahona. In the women’s draw, the team will feature Alejandra Salazar, Tamara Icardo and Nuria Rodríguez, three top-class players making their debut in this competition.

On the other side is Team Sierra Blanca Estates, captained by Arturo Coello. The world number one will be surrounded by an all-Spanish line-up comprising Fran Guerrero, Javi Leal, Jon Sanz, Coki Nieto and Javi Garrido. In the women’s draw, Alejandra Alonso, Lara Arruabarrena and the Portuguese player Sofía Araújo – who is stepping in to replace Delfi Brea – will be competing.

Thrilling matches guaranteed: unprecedented pairings and tactical showdowns at Puente Romano

The organisers have already confirmed some of the most eagerly anticipated match-ups, the most eye-catching of which will see Ale Galán and Leo Augsburger teaming up on the same side of the court for the first time. Two natural powerhouses, both backhand players, who will form an unprecedented pairing with Galán moving to the right. Facing them will be Arturo Coello and Coki Nieto, a pairing that already shone at the World Championships in Qatar by securing Spain’s only point in the final against Argentina. This match will take place on Saturday 20 June at 8.00 pm.

An explosive clash has also been confirmed between Mike Yanguas and Leo Augsburger against the power of Coello and Javi Garrido, a match-up that could well feature in an official Premier Padel draw in the future. Furthermore, Galán will test his chemistry with Yanguas – a pairing that has been rumoured in several recent partner mix-ups – as they take on the powerhouse duo of Coello and Javi Leal.

Although there are still some match-ups to be announced, these initial fixtures already guarantee a spectacular weekend of padel in Marbella, with unlikely pairings, boundless talent and a unique atmosphere at Puente Romano.
