The Dubai Premier Padel P1 has crowned its new champions after an exciting final day that once again demonstrated the enormous competitiveness of the circuit. The Dubai P1 champions in both categories delivered an outstanding performance: Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello regained control in the men’s final, while Claudia Fernández and Bea González put in one of their most complete performances of the year to lift the women’s title.

Dubai P1 final results

Tapia and Coello halt Galán and Chingotto’s streak and retain their title

Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello arrived in Dubai on the back of two consecutive defeats to Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto, with the number two pair just 680 points ahead in the Race. The final, therefore, had much more at stake than just a title: it was a direct battle for the lead.

The number ones started the match flying. With a dazzling 3-0 start, Tapia and Coello imposed their will from the serve, conceding just one break point in the entire set, which they closed out 6-3. Their powerful serve was a constant throughout the match.

In the second set, Galán and Chingotto raised their level and looked for the big shot that would allow them to get into the match. However, past the halfway point of the set, Tapia and Coello struck again with a break that would put the final on track for a 6-4 victory. The number ones did not concede a single break point in the second set, showing total solidity, and ended up being crowned champions of Dubai P1 for the second consecutive year.

The victory, the eleventh of the season for Tapia and Coello, also means ending their rivals’ streak of three consecutive titles and reopening the gap in the fight for the number one spot: a 400-point margin in the race for a total cushion of 1,080 points.

Claudia Fernández and Bea González surprise the number ones and are crowned champions

If the men’s final was a vindication, the women’s was a demonstration. Claudia Fernández and Bea González completed one of the most brilliant tournaments of the season in Dubai. To lift the title, they had to overcome three of the strongest pairs on the circuit: in the quarterfinals, Icardo/Ortega (No. 5); in the semifinals, Sánchez/Josemaría (No. 2); and in the final, the number ones, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay.

The final began with a very high level of play from Claudia and Bea, who took control of the match from the start. Their superiority was reflected in a resounding 6-1, supported by an offensive display of 18 winners, almost double that of their rivals, and just 6 unforced errors.

Brea and Triay reacted in the second set, managing to neutralize the initial break and even tying the score at 5-5 after saving the match point. However, the Spanish pair did not lose their composure: a new break in the eleventh game gave them the definitive advantage to seal the title with a 7-5 victory.

Claudia and Bea were not only superior in the final, but also demonstrated remarkable mental and tactical strength. Of the eight matches they have played against Brea/Triay, they now have five victories, confirming themselves as one of the biggest threats to the number ones.

The Dubai title is the fourth of the season for the Spanish pair and puts a brake on Brea and Triay‘s attempt to seal the world number one spot. Although the Argentines could secure the number one spot at the Major in Mexico, the fight is still open.
