Bea González has finally achieved her long-awaited goal of winning in her home town. The Malaga native and Claudia Fernández defeated Marta Ortega and Tamara Icardo 6-2, 6-1 in the final of the Andalucía Malaga Premier Padel P1.
Today’s was an unprecedented women’s final in Premier Padel this year. Marta and Tamara reached their first final in their third tournament together, while Bea and Claudia reached their fifth final of the year. Both pairs had already faced each other in the Valladolid P2, where the number 3 pair won 7-5 and 7-6.
As for today’s final, the first set lasted an hour despite the score, which was decided by a clear 6-2. Bea and Claudia began to tip the balance in their favour from the fourth game onwards. La Perla de El Palo was very inspired and the Madrid native was a sure thing on the 20×10. From then on, Marta and Tamara were unable to react and ended up losing the set.

The second set also began with Bea and Claudia dominating, achieving a break in the first game. They extended their lead in the fifth game with another break that put them 4-1 up. But that wasn’t all, as the number 3 seeds went on to win the title with another break in the seventh game.

Premier Padel will now take a few days off until next Sunday, 27 July, when the Tarragona P1 begins, the last tournament before the summer break.
