Bordeaux does it again. As if this tournament had a special knack for unexpected twists, the Bordeaux Premier Padel P2 2026 wraps up its edition with a final that’s already etched into the circuit’s history. The Mériadeck arena witnessed one of those stories that define careers, shift the balance of power, and elevate a couple to the ranks of true champions. Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen were crowned champions after defeating Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay—the world’s No. 1 couple—3-6, 6-1, 6-1, capping off a perfect week.

The week that defines a couple: from arriving without titles to defeating the No. 4, No. 2, and No. 1 seeds

You couldn’t write a better week. Icardo and Jensen arrived in Bordeaux without having won a single title together and are leaving with the trophy in hand after consecutively eliminating the circuit’s No. 4, No. 2, and No. 1 seeds. A flawless run that explains why this tournament will be etched forever in their careers.

The No. 5 seeds reached the final with their confidence sky-high after eliminating Paula Josemaría and Bea González—recent champions in Valladolid—in the semifinals. That momentum was evident from the very start: Tamara and Claudia opened the final with a 2-0 lead that caught the No. 1 seeds off guard. But Gemma and Delfi responded with their usual authority, winning four consecutive games and closing out the first set 6-3. Icardo and Jensen were punished for the seventeen unforced errors they committed in the opening set—too much of a burden to trouble the top-ranked pair.

The complete turnaround: Jensen takes control, Delfi crumbles, and Bordeaux breaks the script again

The match changed radically at the start of the second set. Icardo and Jensen turned the match around 180 degrees, wiping the number-one seeds off the court and forcing them to significantly increase their unforced errors. Jensen, a 20-year-old left-hander, took control of the match from the very first point of the second set: she built plays, attacked, directed the action, and outplayed her opponents. If there’s one player who has improved exponentially in recent months, it’s her.

The No. 5 seeds’ run of five straight games forced a third set with a decisive 6-1 victory. And the momentum didn’t shift. With Delfi Brea completely out of the match and Gemma Triay unable to keep up with the pace, Icardo and Jensen strung together another five consecutive games to seal the comeback with another 6-1 set. Two identical sets, two sets that demonstrate the superiority of a couple that played their best padel at the most crucial moment.

For the first time, Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen have defeated Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay. In their four previous matchups, victory had gone to the number-one pair. First win, first title. And a title worth its weight in gold: Jensen’s second on the Premier Padel circuit—following Acapulco 2024 alongside Jessica Castelló—and Icardo’s first on the circuit since 2021, when she lifted her last trophy on the World Padel Tour.

Bordeaux, once again, becomes the place where career-changing stories are born. And this, without a doubt, is one of them.
