Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea won the Italy Major Premier Padel 2025 after defeating Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria in the final at the Foro Italico in Rome. The Menorcan and the Argentine confirmed their excellent form with another victory at one of the most impressive venues on tour in a duel that felt like a change of cycle.
The final was not just another one. Beyond the title, the clash was a key chapter in the battle for the throne of women’s padel. The number ones of the ranking were facing their main pursuers, in a match that already had a 3-1 balance for Triay and Brea this season. In Rome, they imposed their law again.
A match controlled from start to finish by Gemma and Delfi
The match started evenly, with both couples showing a very high level. But it was in the ninth game of the first set where Triay and Brea broke the balance with a decisive break that gave them the 6-4 lead. In the second set, it was a different story. The world number two pairing put on their best performance and gave their opponents no chance, closing out the set with a resounding 6-2 win.

Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea’s game in the final of the Italy Major was as effective as it was intelligent. Delfi Brea showed admirable solidity from the back court, while Gemma Triay dominated the net with her trademark repertoire of offensive resources. The result was a lethal combination that suffocated Ari and Paula, who were unable to find answers both tactically and emotionally.
The number ones, without solutions to their Achilles heel
For Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, the defeat is a new setback against their most uncomfortable rivals on the circuit. Although they had recovered their sensations with their victory in Buenos Aires, in Rome they came up against the wall represented by the Brea-Triay duo. The lack of response to their approach was evident, especially in the second set, where they made some unusual mistakes and were overwhelmed.

Beyond the result, the mental aspect is also starting to play a determining role. Triay and Brea seem to have found the formula not only to beat them tactically, but also emotionally, consolidating a supremacy that translates into results.
Gemma will regain the number 1 ranking in a few days time
With this victory, Gemma Triay will regain the number of the FIP ranking. Although it won’t be this Monday, it will be the following Monday, on 23 June. On that date, the points obtained in last year’s edition of the Italy Major will be removed. Arí and Paula, winners of that tournament, will lose 2,000 points while Gemma, runner-up, will lose 1,200.
Now the roles are reversed. Gemma and Delfi will have 2,000 points to their credit this Monday, while Ari and Paula will lose 1,200.
With the calculator in hand, Ari and Paula, with 16,760 points right now, will lose 800 points on June 26 and will be left with 15,960 points, while Gemma Triay, with 15,560 points will add 800 points and will have a total of 16,360, so the Minorcan will be, on that date, again the number 1 of the FIP ranking.
