Galan and Chingotto have done it again. Almost a year after their last win against Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, the couple number two in the world have broken their bad streak against the number ones in the most symbolic scenario possible: the Foro Italico in Rome. There, as in 2024, Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto have proclaimed champions of the Italy Major Premier Padel, this time with a solid 6-3 and 7-5.
A victory with a taste of revenge
They hadn’t been able to defeat the “Golden Boys” in the last nine encounters. The last time was in the final of the P2 in Genoa in 2024. Since then, Coello and Tapia had won every head-to-head. But Rome brought new air for Galan and Chingotto, who came out with a very clear match plan: pressure from the first point, aggressiveness at the net and maximum tactical intensity.
The first set was completely dominated by the number twos. Fede Chingotto deactivated Coello in the cross court and Ale Galan constantly punished with his power. They closed the set 6-3 without conceding a single break point, with a cleaner and more effective game: more winners, fewer errors and twice as many winners (17 vs. 9).

The second set was more even but with the same outcome.
The second set was more even. Coello and Tapia got their first break in the sixth game, placing themselves at 4-2 and aiming for a possible third set. However, Galan and Chingotto reacted immediately: counterbreak in the next game and a new momentum to change the course of the set. From there, they took a 5-1 lead that they sealed with another break in the eleventh game. The definitive 7-5 clinched their victory and gave them their second consecutive title in Rome.
The duel for the number one spot, more alive than ever
With this victory in the Italy Major, Galan and Chingotto add their fourth title of the season and prove that the battle for the top of the world padel is far from decided. Coello and Tapia’s hegemony suffers an important setback, and the confidence of the number twos is reinforced with a performance that could mark a turning point in the season.
