The second leg of the Pro Padel League in Los Angeles produced two champions who were able to withstand the pressure, handle the crucial moments and turn the super tie-break to their advantage. DC Matrix, in the women’s category, and Mexico Waves, in the men’s, claimed the titles on a final day that kept the tension high right up to the very last point and once again demonstrated the appeal of the franchise format championed by the North American league.

DC Matrix clinch the women’s title in a nail-biting final

The women’s final was a perfect example of the intensity that characterises the Pro Padel League. DC Matrix and Houston Volts were locked in a duel that saw the momentum swing back and forth and kept the outcome in the balance right up to the very last point. Ara Martínez and Marina Guinart got off to a commanding start, but Ari Cañellas and Laia Rodríguez responded with a flawless second set, forcing the title to be decided in a super tie-break. There, the DC Matrix players showed tremendous competitive maturity and sealed the final 6-3, 2-6 and 11-9, lifting a trophy that reinforces their status as one of the strongest franchises in the championship.

Third place was also decided over three sets, with New York Atlantics coming out on top thanks to a comeback from Marta Talaván and Sofía Saiz, who ultimately beat Carolina Orsi and Noa Cánovas in a match that was as close as it was thrilling.

Mexico Waves claim the men’s title after a thrilling finale

The men’s final was just as dramatic. Mexico Waves and Florida Goats put on a thrilling match in which David Gala and Maxi Arce struck first. However, Luis Hernández Quesada and Juani de Pascual managed to level the score and take the match to a super tie-break. In that decisive stage, the Waves produced their best performance and clinched the title with a convincing 6-4, 3-6 and 10-2 victory, demonstrating a level of superiority they hadn’t shown in the previous sets.

The bronze went to the Toronto Polar Bears, with Mario Huete and Álex Ruiz staging a solid comeback against Mario del Castillo and Tino Libaak.

The Los Angeles event confirms, once again, that the Pro Padel League is a key platform for the expansion of padel in the United States. With franchises in different cities, their own distinct identities and a format that heightens the excitement, the league continues to open doors and bring the sport to new audiences in a rapidly growing market.
