A solution to an invisible problem: how Artesivo’s vinyl decals protect birds on padel courts

As padel grows in popularity worldwide, so do questions about how to integrate this sport into urban and natural environments in a responsible way. It is precisely here that the company Artesivo has decided to take decisive action with its new vinyl decals.

One of the least visible, yet increasingly studied, problems is the impact of glass surfaces on wildlife, especially birds. Padel courts, built largely with glass panels, can create reflections or transparency that many species do not perceive as a barrier. The result is collisions that occur repeatedly every year in various sports settings.

In this context, Artesivo has developed a specific patent to address this problem: an adhesive-free vinyl system for padel courts designed to make glass surfaces visible to birds. And not only that, but it does not affect the game or the aesthetics of the facility in any way.

Artesivo’s goal in padel is to make the invisible visible

The idea behind this solution is quite simple—one might even call it obvious: if birds can identify the glass as an obstacle, they will avoid the collision.

To make this possible, the system uses printed visual elements that break the transparency or reflective effect of the glass, making it easier for birds to detect the surface and alter their trajectory before impact.

In practice, these are visual patterns, such as bands or die-cut designs. These are applied to the glass panels of the court and do not affect the players’ view of the game or the normal operation of the facility. Instead, what they do is provide a sufficient visual cue for wildlife.

Pure innovation: adhesive-free vinyl

Focusing on the most interesting aspects of this Artesivo patent, we highlight that the vinyls do not use adhesive. Unlike conventional vinyls, which are attached to the glass using permanent or semi-permanent adhesives, the system developed by Artesivo is installed using a non-adhesive method that allows the material to be applied and removed quickly and cleanly.

This offers several practical advantages:

    • Simple installation.
    • Quick removal or replacement.
    • No residue left on the glass.
    • Greater flexibility in design and positioning.
    • Introduction of an important safety feature.

With traditional adhesive vinyls, when glass breaks, the material can hold fragments of glass in place, creating sharp edges or cutting surfaces. The adhesive-free system from this company prevents this, as the film peels away independently if the glass breaks.

A solution adaptable to any padel court

We continue with another of the system’s strengths: its versatility of application. The vinyls can be manufactured in different sizes, patterns, or configurations, making it possible to adapt their design to both bird visibility criteria and the aesthetics of each club.

Not only that, but they can also be integrated with the club’s own branding or that of sponsors, thereby becoming a visual communication element as well.

Similarly, since no structural modifications to the glass are required, the system can be installed on newly constructed courts or existing facilities, requiring only a preliminary cleaning of the glass.

Artesivo looks toward the future of padel

The reality is that the development of solutions like this reflects an increasingly clear trend within the padel industry: the growth of the sport involves not only building more courts, but doing so in a safer, more functional, and more sustainable way.

For its part, Artesivo will officially present this innovation during the Padel World Summit 2026, one of the sector’s most important international events, where it will demonstrate the system’s operation firsthand at its booth.

We can say (and in fact we do say) that this is another step forward in a range of products aimed at improving padel infrastructure and adapting it to a sport that continues to expand rapidly around the world.
